What does this mean?
- The already dry fuels and soils will get drier
- Make sure you register your burn every time
- More wind
- Warmer longer days
Remember key messages on heavy fuels/piles and stumps
- Fire Permit season is near – do you need a permit?
- They will burn for long periods of time
- They can burn underground
- They may show little to no signs they are still burning
- Once going they take a lot to extinguish properly
What to do
- Avoid burning heavy fuel piles unless you have the time/resources to manage it
- Check/re-check and triple check – are they OUT?
- Make follow up ahead of warm windy weather a priority
If you are unsure, please reach out to the Red Hot Tips team before you light the piles, to make sure you can manage the responsibly before you start.
